Met StadsStalling onderzoeken het architectenbureau Rooilijn en Atelier Scheldeman de mogelijkheden van een modulaire fietsenparking die ook voor andere doeleinden kan worden gebruikt.
Er wordt meer en meer gefietst in en rond onze steden. Waar het vroeger ging om simpele tweewielers zijn er nu fietsen in alle vormen en maten. De stallingsmogelijkheden evolueren echter niet mee en her en der ontstaat een chaotische wildgroei. Met StadsStalling willen de onderzoekers hierop een antwoord bieden. De constructie wil namelijk niet enkel functioneel zijn, maar ook bijdragen aan het beeld van de publieke ruimte en extra groen toelaten. Naast een fietsenparking voorzien de ontwerpers plaats voor stedelijk tuinieren, sporten, picknicken… De bedoeling is om ontmoetingen tussen de verschillende gebruikers te bevorderen.
Dit project kwam tot stand in samenwerking met het Team Vlaams Bouwmeester, het Vlaams Architectuurinstituut, Openstructures, Belalbatros, De brug en Tailorsteel. De tentoonstelling is een productie van het Vlaams Architectuurinstituut.
In the exhibition StadsStalling the architects of Rooilijn and Atelier Scheldeman explore the possibilities of creating bicycle parking structures that can be used for other purposes in addition to parking.
We cycle more and more in and around our cities. The number of bicycles is increasing exponentially, as well as the quality of the bikes. What used to be basic rusty two-wheelers are now sophisticated bicycles in all shapes and sizes. The parking facilities have not evolved accordingly, and they chaotically spread here and there with mostly ad-hoc solutions.
The researchers want to create structures which are functional, but also contribute to the visual quality of the public space while introducing greenery. In addition to bicycle parking these provide space for urban gardening, sports, picnicking, etc. The idea is to stimulate encounters between the different users.
This project is a collaboration with the Team Flemish Government Architect, the Flemish Architecture Institute, Openstructures, Belalbatros, De brug and Tailorsteel. This exhibition is a production of the Flemish Architecture Institute.
